Japan (Spending info)

My first impression of Japan was “what an incredible country…really??!! That much for a Bus!!”. Food is affordable, accomodations is in the 15-20USD range and transport is very expensive. All public transport is private so trains and buses will be on schedule but you’ll be paying for it.

My recomendation for the country is to come with time, hitchhike yourself
around and use couchsurfing as much as you can. If you got money and little time buy the JR pass before you arraive to Japan and go all over the country on the bullet trains.

Google maps works perfectly for public transport all around Japan.

In 11 days I spent 48000 yen, more less 480 USD. I couchsurfed as much as I could, hitchhiked and didn’t do any crazy spending.

What to do
Kyoto is full of temples and history. Most of the temples have an entrance fee, 400-500 yen, and the really famous ones are crowded, specially the golden temple. With the triposo app is quite easy to find your way around and if you have a bus day pass you can visit a few in one day.
You can also find free admission ones, the one I really enjoyed and is not even that croweded was the Fushimi Inari, which is  hill full of red tori gates. You can easily spend 2hrs there.
